My Life Final Project

Identify the different music in your project. Tell us what songs you used and why you chose the different pieces.
I used the songs "100 Years" by Five for Fighting and "Kids" by MGMT. I chose these songs because they go well with my life and I like how the songs sound.

What kinds of search terms/phrases did you use? What search engine(s) do you use most often? Did you find any unreliable websites or sources?
I used Google as my search engine and would search for anything with "1995" in it such as: "events in 1995" or "top songs of 1995." I got most of my pictures from my house as well as Google. Wikipedia seemed rather unreliable for me when I would search things about 1995.

What different kinds of technology did you use to compile your project?
I used iMovie, Powerpoint, iPhoto, and an Internet Browser (Safari). These tools helped me greatly to find my information and display it in an attractive manner.

What are you good at...what went well for you in this project?
I am good at making an attractive and well put together project. All of my photos and transitions fell nicely into place when i converted my project.

With what did you struggle on this project...what was difficult for you?
I didn't really get this project done until the last minute and that is really the only thing that didn't go well for me.

Did you decide to use still slides? Why or why not?
Yes, I did. I used about half still slides and the other half I used slides from iMovie. I used the still slides for the Oscars and the headlines.

Did you use a consistent theme throughout your movie? Why or why not?
Yes, I tried to use a consistent theme as much as a could. I would use a consistent thing throughout things like the Oscars or fashion trends.

Describe how you used video in your project.
I used video for major events and headlines and for things like the presidency.

For what other classes, situations, uses could this type of project be adapted?
A project like this would be useful for any other class or job where one would need to make an attractive project to display information.

How did your project use the transformative property of borrowed images, music, and information to comply with the Copyright Law of 1976?
I cited all of my sources and web sites that I used as well as all my music. Most of the photos were mine but the rest were from Google and I cited all of them.

Would you do another project like this on your own? Why? Why not?
I would definitely do another project like this because I enjoy making videos and I enjoyed learning about things that happened the year I was born as it was very interesting.

I chose the musical style of pop and in specific, the Beatles. I chose this topic because i love the Beatles and the style of pop music.

Describe how you went about finding your songs and information.
I looked up information about the Beatles band and also looked up information pop music on Google.

What different kinds of technology did you use to compile your project?
I used Powerpoint, iMovie, and Garageband. I used Powerpoint for all of the information, Garageband to make my song, and iMovie to put it all together and make the movie.

What are you good at...what went well for you in this project?
I am very good at using Garageband and iMovie to make songs and movies. I know how to use all of the cool tools to make my projects look attractive.

With what did you struggle on this project...what was difficult for you?
It was tough getting all of the information together and it was difficult to put all of the information together and in logical order.

Did you decide to use still slides? Why or why not?
Yes I did because it was easier to get all of my information on still slides than putting it all into iMovie.

For what other classes, situations, uses could this type of project be adapted?
I would definitely use this type of project in a music class or any other class in which I need to make an attractive project.

How did your project use the transformative property of borrowed images, music, and information to comply with the Copyright Law of 1976?
I took all of my photos and information and cited it all using Noodle Tools.

Would you do another project like this on your own? Why? Why not?
Yes I definitely would because I love music and it is very fun to make and learn about.

PND Culture iMovie

Identify your team's topic.
Our team did Peoria Notre Dame Track and Field.

Describe your role on the team.I was the person who had the movie on my computer and I helped get all of the videos and information for the project.

What did you learn from being a part of this team?
I learned how to work as a team and how to distribute work evenly.

What went well for you as a team?
We got our project done in a timely manner and it helped as one of the members of our team was on the Peoria Notre Dame Track and Field team.

What did not go well for you as a team?
It took us a little while to get all of our information, videos, and photos.

Describe the process from storyboarding through the movie creation. Did ideas/concepts/focus change from one kind of technology to the other? If so, how?
It definitely helped doing the storyboard first. Our movie definitely changed a lot though from the storyboard. We had all of the correct information in our storyboard but we just weren't really sure how we would present it.

What new tools and techniques did you learn by doing this project?
I learned how to use iMovie to its fullest. I learned how to do lots of cool things with videos such as slow and fast motion.

For what other classes, situations, uses could this type of project be adapted?
Movies are always a great way to make attractive and appealing presentations for any class.

How did you use the transformative property of borrowed images, music, and information to comply with the Copyright Law of 1976?
I used this transformative property for my information by citing my sources using Noodle Tools.

Would you do another project like this on your own? Why? Why not?
Yes, I definitely would because it was very fun and interesting and there are many cool things that one can do with iMovie.

Garageband Blog Post

What tools and techniques did you use to create your podcast?
I used the application garageband on my mac. I found my photos online and got all of my sound effects on garageband. I also recorded my voice of the movie review through garageband.

How could you use a project like this in other classes?
In my Church History class we have to make a podcast for every unit study guide. This podcast is a recording of our voice with certain answers to questions.

In the “real world,” how could podcast projects be used (In what careers/businesses, etc.)?
A podcast might be used if you were interviewing someone or in the advertising business. One would definitely use this skill if they got into a profession regarding television, music, or radio production.

In this project, what did you get good at doing?
I got good at using garageband to its fullest in this project. Before, I didn't really know that you could add all of the photos and cool jingles and stuff like that.

What was the most difficult part of the assignment?
The most difficult part of this assignment definitely would have to have been getting all of my jingles, my voice, and all of my photos too go in proper sequence and play at the right time.

Would you do a project like this on your own?
Yes, I definitely would do a project like this on my own. I might not do a podcast but I would definitely make music in garageband because i love music.

Storyboard Blog Post

Our group chose the topic Track and Field. We chose this topic because the Track and Field program at Notre Dame is very successful and a great program to participate in. Also, Ted Ehrhart participates in Track and Field so he could help us easily gather information on the subject.

1. What different images did you include in your storyboard & why did you chose them?
We included images of the Peoria Notre Dame track teams and the coaches of these teams. We also included the teams in the Midstate 6 conference to the incoming freshman have an idea of what school they will be competing against.

2. What tools of collaboration helped you succeed as a team?
We all worked on the project in keynote and would each work individually on it outside of class. Whenever someone made changes, they would just email it to the rest of the group.

3. Describe HOW storyboarding helped you develop the idea for your movie.
Being able to use keynote really helped us get an example of what our final movie will look like. We were able to put transitions and other cool things in our keynote that will help our movie making to go more smoothly.

iPhoto Name Project

Which search terms did you use to find images (for the letters of your name and the images that describe you) and why?
I searched on Google the name of the letter in nature. I think that it is very interesting and cool when there are letter found randomly in nature.

What skills did you use/learn in this project?
I have never made a slideshow on iPhoto and it was very interesting. I didn't know that you could do it before and will definitely use it later in my life.

Describe how you might use these skills and apply them to a real-world situation.
When I get a job later in life, i know that attractive slideshows are very appealing. Also with the world constantly modernizing these will become very common.

This was a more creative project than our first 2. Did you prefer it or the more cut and dry assignments in Word and Excel?
I definitely preferred this over the other ones because it was very fun to do and much more interesting. It seemed more hands on and I had never done something like this before.

Charity Letter Mail Merge Project

List the name of your business and its charity.
I represented UPS and was helping out the Toys for Tots charity.

What skills did you use/learn in this project?
I learned how to write a good business letter in the proper format. I also learned how to do a mail merge. I never knew how to do it before and it was really interesting and saved me tons of time.

What was the easiest part of this project? What was the most difficult part of this project?
The easiest part was probably writing the letter and making the excel spread sheet. The most difficult part was probably getting the mail merge to work properly.

Describe how you might use these skills and apply them to a real-world situation other than writing a charity letter.
It might help when mailing out Christmas Cards or having to make a document and sending it out to everyone in your office.

Did you learn something new during this project that you did not know before?  If so, what?
I learned how to do a mail merge. I never even knew that it was there before and it helps so much so I will definitely use it in the future.
